POSITION OVERVIEW

American College of Healthcare Sciences (ACHS) is seeking qualified applicants for Assistant Professor positions in the Integrative Health and Nutrition department.
The Integrative Health and Nutrition Department offers a wide range of courses in integrative health, nutrition, wellness, and coaching, all fully online. These courses feature interactive online classrooms with live faculty lectures and practical lab materials to support experiential learning. Integrative Health and Nutrition programs offer courses for personal interest, as well as Certificate, Diploma, Associate’s, Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctoral degree programs.
ACHS integrative health courses focus on providing training in health, disease, lifestyle, and environmental factors based on anatomy, physiology, counseling, psychology, and complementary and alternative medicine. The nutrition courses at ACHS focus on a holistic nutrition approach to diet and health, considering the whole person. The courses emphasize whole foods, plant-based options, nutrient density, and nutraceuticals, while also recognizing the impact of lifestyle, stress management, and environmental factors on health.
ACHS is a learner-centric institution, and faculty are integral to the success of ACHS students and the academic integrity of ACHS programs. Faculty are responsible for all instruction in ACHS classes. Faculty use their professional experience and education coupled with curriculum provided in ACHS-published course materials, required publisher textbooks, and supplemental study aids (such as online videos, botanicals, essential oils, and other lab supplies) to teach the stated learning outcomes.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE YOU BRING TO ACHS

  • At least two years of online teaching experience and subject matter expertise.
  • Experience with online learning platforms such as Canvas, D2L, Moodle, and Blackboard.
  • Proficiency in using technology such as videos, social media, and other interactive tools to engage learners.
  • NBWHC, CHES® and CNS® certificates preferred.
  • A commitment to and engagement in making a positive impact on social and environmental issues.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

To meet all state and accreditation requirements, ACHS requires applicants to have a terminal professional degree in a related field for this position.

Responsibilities

THE WORK YOU’LL DO IN THIS ROLE

All faculty at ACHS engage our learners and participate in:

  • Lecturing on class content (via video, live Zoom conferences, announcements, written lectures, audio lectures, and discussion posts).
  • Conducting office hours at least one hour per week; answering student questions online in the discussion boards, answering student questions posted to the Instructor’s Virtual Office, and answering student emails or phone calls.
  • Monitoring coaching sessions when needed.
  • Grading assignments and examinations.
  • Contributing to curriculum review and development
