The Department of Mathematics and Statistics at Austin Peay State University invites applications to fill a faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor for the 2026 – 2027 academic year. Primary Duties and Responsibilities • A typical teaching load is 12 credit hours per semester, with additional responsibilities to include advising, maintaining an active program of scholarship, and engaging in university service. Emphasis is placed on excellence in teaching, commitment to service, and potential for scholarly activity. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities • Demonstrate willingness and ability to work effectively with colleagues to support the mission of the University, College and Department. • Be willing to teach at times, places, and modalities necessary to meet student needs. • Be willing to adopt innovative teaching methods and delivery as appropriate. • Possess the knowledge, talents, and skills in the discipline to promote effective teaching. • Demonstrate respect for the diverse learning needs of students. • Demonstrate the ability to develop and implement curriculum objectives and content for courses offered and taught in one’s curriculum area. • Demand and maintain high standards and expectations for all students. • Implement teaching activities and a diversity of teaching techniques, procedures, and resources including application of technology. • Develop and implement evaluation and assessment techniques that are appropriate for each course. • Be available, knowledgeable, and demonstrate proficiency in the practice of academic advisement of students. • Serve effectively on committees and other appropriate functions that assist in University governance. Physical Requirements Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects. Required Minimum Qualifications • Earned Doctorate or terminal degree from an accredited institution in the instructional discipline or related area. The preferred candidate will have a background in Mathematical Modeling, Mathematical Ecology, or Applied Mathematics. Applicants with experience teaching Mathematical Models and a strong background in linear algebra and differential equations are especially encouraged to apply. • Documented evidence of high-quality professional productivity, which may lead to national recognition in the academic discipline, and/or consonant with the goals of the University and of the academic unit to which the faculty member belongs. • Documented evidence of ability in academic assignment and/or scholarly and creative achievement, and/or professional contributions and activities. • Evidence of good character, mature attitude, and professional integrity.
