The Department of Natural Sciences at Baruch College, City University of New York, invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor of Environmental Studies, starting September 1, 2026. The candidate is expected to establish an externally funded research program that will complement the collaborative, interdisciplinary environment at the College and provide research opportunities for undergraduate students. We are seeking a candidate with teaching experience and research in any area of environmental science and ecology. Areas of expertise may include but are not limited to quantitative ecology, plant sciences, earth sciences, natural resource management, and urban ecology.
The Department of Natural Sciences offers general education courses for non-majors as well as a Biological Sciences Major (over 300 students) and minors in Chemistry, Environmental Sustainability, and Physics. The Department is also currently developing majors in Environmental Science and Environmental Studies. Baruch College is in the vibrant Gramercy Park District of New York City. It is easily reached from the other boroughs of the City, Westchester County, and New Jersey by car and public transportation. Its buildings include the 1929 Field Building and the modern Newman Vertical Campus completed in 2001. QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. degree in Environmental Studies/Ecology/Biology or a closely related field is required by September 1, 2026 when the appointment begins. Competitive applicants will have a strong record of peer-reviewed publications in their field, promise of teaching excellence, and a commitment to mentoring undergraduate researchers.
