Description
The Department of Accounting & Management within the School of Business at WVU Tech invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track Assistant Professor of Accounting to begin August 2026. This is a teaching-focused appointment with a 4/4 load (12 credits/semester) across undergraduate accounting courses delivered on campus and online (Blackboard Ultra). Priority teaching needs include Financial Accounting plus either Auditing or Accounting Information Systems; secondary needs include Tax, Governmental & Not-for-Profit, and Fraud/Forensic. Responsibilities include excellence in teaching, advising/mentoring, assessment and accreditation-related work, engagement with student organizations, ongoing professional or pedagogical development appropriate to a teaching-heavy institution, and other duties associated with a faculty position. At this time, we are unable to sponsor work visas. Minimum Master’s degree in Accounting or a closely related field with 18+ graduate hours in Accounting by start date. CPA/CMA/CIA/CFE strongly preferred; candidates with substantial recent professional accounting experience are encouraged to apply. Demonstrated commitment to teaching excellence, student success, and student-centered pedagogy; ability to teach in multiple modalities (on-campus and online using Blackboard Ultra). Preferred Doctorate in Accounting or related field (ABD considered) Ability to teach in two or more of the following: Financial, Auditing, AIS, Tax, Governmental & Not-for-Profit, Fraud/Forensic Evidence of assessment, SoTL or practice-oriented scholarship, and/or industry engagement.
