JOB SUMMARY

PRIMARY DUTY: To teach lower division and upper division courses in English, and to coordinate and develop programs for on campus, blended, and online modalities. Successful candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to teaching within a comprehensive State college, student engagement, college service, community involvement, and the promise of scholarly achievement. ( This is a Tenure Track Appointment ).

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

REQUIREMENTS: Education - Masters with 18 graduate semester hours in English.
All but dissertations (ABDs) with documented credentials of degree completion within one academic year maybe considered.
All academic coursework must have been completed at an institution accredited by a regional accreditation agency, such as the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools (SACSCOC).
Experience: Teaching experience

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

Ph.D. in English preferred;
Teaching experience in a college setting preferred

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES

Skills: Teaching ability in English as well as scholarly research in the field.

Responsibilities
  • Ability to teach lower division and upper division courses in English.
  • Collaborate with other English faculty to review and regularly update the English composition courses (campus, blended & online).
  • Familiarity with multiple delivery systems, including blended, online, and face-to-face learning formats.
  • Teach classes and participate in professional development
  • Familiarity with advising students in undergraduate course programs and in application for graduate programs and employment opportunities.
  • Familiarity or experience working with diverse populations or completed coursework demonstrating understanding of diverse populations.
  • Familiarity with developing academic programs.
  • Scholarly research in an academic field of study.
  • Experience in any area or subfield of English.
  • College and School service, including student organizations, assistance, and sponsorships.
  • Assisting students in the Writing Center and in conducting or participation in undergraduate research.
  • Other duties as assigned.
