Description The School of Business at Heidelberg University invites applications for a full-time Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship to begin in the 2026–2027 academic year. This is a multi-year position with the potential for additional multi-year extensions. We seek an innovative and collaborative teacher-scholar committed to excellence in undergraduate and graduate teaching, student engagement, and service to the University. While the primary focus will be on entrepreneurship, the successful candidate will also contribute to teaching in the management and marketing curriculum. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in entrepreneurship, management, and marketing (24 credit hours per year). Course responsibilities may include Introduction to Entrepreneurship, Small Business Management, New Venture Creation, Principles of Management, Organizational Behavior, and Marketing Strategy. Develop partnerships with business leaders, alumni, and entrepreneurship networks to enrich student experiences and support mentorship and internship opportunities. Advise students academically and professionally, and supervise student projects, internships, and co-curricular activities. Engage in curriculum development that integrates entrepreneurial thinking, innovation, and real-world problem solving. Participate actively in service to the department, school, and university, including serving on committees and contributing to assessment and accreditation processes. Stay current in the field through scholarship, professional development, and collaboration with industry. Perform other essential duties as assigned or outlined in the Faculty Manual. Supervision Received: Reports directly to the Dean of the School of Business. Supervision Exercised: The Assistant Professor of Entrepreneurship may supervise student workers, research assistants, or student projects and events tied to entrepreneurship and career readiness programming. Requirements Minimum Qualifications: Advanced degree in entrepreneurship, management, marketing, or a related business field (Ph.D., DBA, or MS), or 18 graduate credit hours in the primary teaching area. Ability to teach a range of courses in entrepreneurship and general business disciplines at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Demonstrated commitment to student engagement, active learning, and inclusive teaching practices. Online teaching certification or documented experience in delivering online or hybrid courses. Strong interpersonal and communication skills with a collegial and collaborative approach. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with business incubators, startups, or consulting with small businesses or entrepreneurs. Demonstrated ability to integrate experiential learning into entrepreneurship education. Experience developing co-curricular programming or managing external partnerships to support student career readiness. Familiarity with assessment and accreditation processes (e.g., ACBSP). Necessary Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Commitment to student-centered learning, leadership development, and career-focused education. Willingness to engage in institutional service and support events during evenings and weekends, as needed. Appreciation for the liberal arts and the role of entrepreneurship within a broad-based business education. Ability to work effectively with diverse student populations and external partners. Strong organizational, analytical, and strategic thinking skills. Team-oriented mindset, strong work ethic, and capacity for independent initiative. Tools and Equipment Used: Knowledge of standard office equipment and instructional technology, including MS Office, Google Suite, and Canvas. Must possess a valid driver’s license. Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate, move, and operate instructional tools and office equipment. Some travel and occasional lifting of materials up to 50 pounds may be required. Work Environment: Work is performed in classroom, office, and occasional off-campus settings. The noise level may vary from quiet to moderately loud.
