Description
The School of Arts and Sciences invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor of History. We are seeking an outstanding candidate to complement the faculty in our multidisciplinary School. Responsibilities include teaching twelve undergraduate hours per semester, including lower-level surveys of American history and upper-division courses related to the candidate’s field(s). The successful candidate will actively contribute to scholarly pursuits, departmental initiatives, and the intellectual and cultural life of the university and will demonstrate a commitment to teaching and mentoring a diverse student population. Additional responsibilities include advising students pursuing a history and government major, committee assignments, participation in professional development, attending regularly scheduled faculty and department meetings, and other duties associated with a tenure-track faculty position. A Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in history with a specialization in American/U.S. History conferred by August 2026, is required. All qualifications must be met by the time of appointment. Candidates must also exhibit evidence of effective teaching experience at the college level along with evidence of scholarly promise.
