JOB SUMMARY

The Department of Education and Teacher Preparation seeks dynamic applicants for a Tenure Track Assistant Professor of Education. This is an academic year (10-month) position beginning on August 1, 2025.

EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS

  • A Doctorate in Education or a closely related field from an accredited institution. ABDs close to completion will be considered. Degree must be obtained by August 1, 2025.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE

  • Minimum three years of full-time teaching experience in the middle grades and/or secondary levels.

OTHER QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience in pre-service or in-service teacher preparation.
  • Strong interpersonal skills that support collaboration with a variety of educational stakeholders

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE

  • Experience teaching undergraduate courses centering on curriculum and instruction, assessment, differentiated instruction, and/or classroom management.
  • Teacher candidate field supervision experience.
  • Experience teaching in online synchronous and asynchronous modalities.

Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES -

  • Teach undergraduate courses in middle grades/secondary pedagogy, social studies instructional methods, and language arts instructional methods. Be willing to teach courses in educational foundations and general elementary pedagogy as needed.
  • Prepare syllabi that align with course and departmental learning outcomes; implement research-informed and practice-based learning experiences with teacher candidates; and assess course learning outcomes in a variety of informal, formal, and performance-based means.
  • Participate in academic advisement and engage in service to the Department of Education and Teacher Preparation, College of Coastal Georgia, and the profession.
  • Produce scholarship/research as relevant to the position.
  • Collaborate closely with faculty and PK-12 partners to support the success of teacher candidates and programs.
  • Teach in hybrid and online modalities as needed.
  • Travel to, supervise, and mentor teacher candidates in clinical field experiences.
