The Division of Pediatric Neurology in the Department of Pediatrics at Oregon Health and Sciences University (OHSU) is actively seeking a BC/BE Pediatric Epileptologist to join our team. As a vital member of our department, the successful candidate will contribute to both inpatient and outpatient services within the Epilepsy Monitoring Unit (EMU) and epilepsy clinic.
OHSU Doernbecher Children’s Hospital is the only pediatrics teaching hospital in the state of Oregon with a full complement of sub-specialists as well as active residency and fellowship training programs. The Division of Pediatric Neurology is committed to providing comprehensive neurological care to children throughout Oregon and the Pacific Northwest. The successful candidate will join a team of 16 Pediatric Neurologists (including 5 other epileptologists), 2 Neurodevelopment and Disabilities (NDD) physicians and 3 Advanced Practice Providers to support the clinical and educational programs in Pediatric Neurology at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital (DCH).
Clinical Responsibilities:
- Provide outstanding clinical care in diverse settings, spanning outpatient, inpatient, and outreach locations.
- Comply with all regulatory guidelines (CMS, JCAHO, and American Board of Medicine) while sharing clinical call and inpatient coverage with division colleagues.
- Support the pediatric EMU service, outpatient clinics, and centers, fostering close clinical relationships across disciplines.
Education/Advocacy:
- Engage in transformative teaching experiences for residents, medical students, and all trainees and support staff through lectures, presentations, rounds, shadowing, and participation in clinical courses.
- Seize numerous opportunities for involvement in quality improvement work, education, research, and childhood advocacy.
- Be part of a community committed to developing careers through professional participation and attendance in relevant educational conferences.
Scholarship/Research:
- Explore and contribute to scholarly research endeavors aimed at enhancing clinical practice, understanding diseases, and improving pediatric medicine or the neurosciences.
Administrative Activities:
- Administrative and advocacy duties may also be assigned or sought within the division, hospital or academic department.
Required Qualifications:
- Completed child neurology residency training in an accredited program.
- Completed training in an accredited pediatric epilepsy fellowship program.
- Eligible for MD licensure in the states of Oregon and Washington.
- Board certification or eligibility for specialty board certification in Pediatric Neurology (ABPN).
- Demonstrated competence in clinical care and teaching.
- Current active DEA license.
- Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
