Position Description:
The History Department of DePaul University invites applications for a US historian with expertise in Latinx history, Chicano history, or borderlands history for a tenure track position to begin September 2026. Responsibilities for this position include teaching American history, Latinx, borderlands, or Chicano history, and developing new courses in the candidate’s area of specialty that will appeal to a broad set of DePaul students. The faculty will be expected to teach in the History Department, as well as the University’s interdisciplinary programs like the Chicago Quarter, Honors, and the First Year Program. The ability to teach in Spanish or another language related to the candidate’s research is a plus.
Qualifications:
The candidate must have a PhD in history or a related field required by September 2026. The department seeks excellence in instruction, research, and service and seeks someone who will look forward to taking on administrative responsibilities at some point in their careers.

Applicants must submit a cover letter; curriculum vitae; a syllabus; three letters of recommendation, at least one of which should speak directly to the applicant’s teaching experience; and an example of the candidate’s scholarship.
