Position Description
The McGill University School of Physical and Occupational Therapy in the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences is inviting applications for a full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor (Tenure Track) in the Occupational Therapy Program. Preference will be given to candidates who will develop a research program in the area of pediatrics, mental health, or psychosocial domains.
The School of Physical and Occupational Therapy, part of the Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences, is well known for its research excellence in rehabilitation science and the professional education of occupational therapists and physiotherapists. The School established the first doctoral program in Rehabilitation Science in Canada in 1988, and has provided high-quality education to graduate students from diverse, multidisciplinary backgrounds. The School has been admitting students to its Master’s entry-level professional programs in OT and PT since the fall of 2007.

Job Duties
The successful candidate will be expected to be actively involved in all aspects of McGill’s academic mission (i.e., research, teaching, supervision of students and residents, if applicable, and involvement in academic and administrative committees). The successful candidate will also be expected to develop an independent, active research program, apply for salary awards and research funding, teach in the professional entry-level and graduate research programs, supervise students conducting research, and participate in departmental committees and activities.
McGill faculty members are also expected to contribute to service activities within their units, the University, and the wider scholarly community. A demonstrated commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion is also expected.
Qualifications and Education Requirements:
Candidates must:
- Have a professional degree in Occupational Therapy;
- Have a doctoral degree in a related discipline;
- Have completed relevant post-doctoral training (or be in progress of);
- The successful candidate will eventually be required to be eligible for licensure as an Occupational Therapist in Quebec;
- Be able to demonstrate excellence in research;
- Demonstrate a commitment to high-quality teaching and inclusive pedagogy; relevant teaching experience will be considered an asset;
- Fluency in English is essential; a working knowledge of French, or a commitment to acquiring it within few years of appointment is preferred.
