Overview:
The Assistant Professor performs under the supervision of the Program Director with matrix supervision from the Director of Education and/or Dean of the University. This role provides instruction to students in the Sonography Program, prepares course outlines, grades exams, prepares deliverables for review to the Program Director, and other pedagogical functions.

Responsibilities:

  • Teach courses within the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Program curriculum that coordinates with clinical experience.
  • Participate in student recruitment.
  • Develop course objectives, outline lesson plans, and curriculum.
  • Support students through counseling and advisement.
  • Design, prepare, and develop teaching material that conforms to the Diagnostic Medical Sonography Curriculum and the ARDMS Curriculum guidelines.
  • Instruct and evaluate students and report progress.
  • Cooperate with the Program Director and participate in periodic review and revision of course materials.
  • Maintain appropriate expertise and competencies through continuing professional development.

Qualifications:

EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE

  • Bachelor’s Degree.
  • Master’s Degree, preferred.

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES

  • Demonstrate proficiency in communication (written and verbal) required
  • Familiarity in online learning platforms including Banner, Canvas, Blackboard, Adobe Connect preferred
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook preferred
  • Strong attention to details required
  • A high degree of interpersonal competency:professionalism, diplomacy, judgement and discretion required
  • Demonstrated ability to develop positive and cooperative relationships with students, faculty and colleagues required
  • Qualified to teach the subject areas of instruction.
  • Knowledge of course development, instruction evaluation, and academic counseling.
  • Hold appropriate professional credentials if applicable.
  • Previous teaching experience preferred.
  • Minimum 2 years sonography scanning work experience.
