The preferred start date is August 14, 2026. We welcome applications by people who can contribute broadly to the mission of the Center, which was established by West Virginia House Bill 3297: https://www.wvlegislature.gov/Bill_Status/bills_text.cfm?billdoc=hb3297 sub1 enr.htm&yr=2025&sesstype=RS&i=3297 The Center seeks people who are accomplished in teaching, writing, and professional service as well as one or more of the following: recruitment of students, fundraising, organization of conferences, engagement with the wider public, and commentary on contemporary politics. The Center is devoted to freedom of speech, free inquiry, and intellectual independence. The Center is seeking candidates who resist external pressures and demonstrate independence of mind especially in the midst of recent pressures to suppress certain inquiries and conform to the dominant ideology.
