Department/Unit: Department of Medicine & Therapeutics Closing Date: Until the post(s) is/are filled Applicants should have (i) a PhD degree in medical sciences or a relevant discipline; (ii) a good record of independent principal investigator experience (Research Assistant Professorship or higher) with demonstrated leadership of competitive grants; (iii) a rich experience in clinical trials and translational research of microbiome-based diagnostics/therapeutics (e.g., FDA-designated devices or patented innovations); (iv) a good track record of research in the area of gut-brain axis related to autism and sleep disorders, evidenced by publications/patents/grants; (v) a good track record of receiving funding from multiple different sources, such as Hong Kong (GRF, HMRF) and the Chinese Mainland (NSFC); (vi) a good record of postgraduate supervision; (vii) a good record of international academic awards; (viii) a strong motivation for a future independent career; (ix) a strong sense of responsibility and team spirit; and (x) a good command of both Chinese and English. The appointee will be expected to (a) conduct significant independent translational research projects and clinical trials related to gut microbiome-based diagnosis/therapeutics for autism and sleep disorders; (b) supervise postgraduate research students; (c) participate in academic and professional activities; (d) undertake administrative duties in the Department, Faculty and University; (e) participate in the application for external competitive research grants; and (f) perform other duties as assigned. Appointments will initially be made on contract basis for up to three years, commencing as soon as possible, with the possibility of renewal. Subject to performance, funding availability and mutual agreement, the contract may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation later. The start date will be negotiated with the successful applicants. Review of applications will continue until the post(s) is/are filled.
