Job description
We value a diverse workforce and welcome applications from all sections of the community wishing to join a workforce which embraces difference and welcomes everyone.
We are looking for Assistant Project Managers to manage the delivery of exciting, innovative projects across the South-East that reduce the risk of flooding to communities and enhance the environment.
You will either assist Project Managers on the delivery of large projects, or manage your own smaller, more straight-forward, lower risk projects. You will be involved in the project delivery process from initial strategic planning, through to feasibility, detailed design and then into construction and handover.
You’ll develop skills in project, commercial, contract and risk management and will become involved in a range of activities such as data management, researching background on flood risk areas, setting up new projects, using systems and processes to help manage projects, attend site visits and public exhibition meetings. You will learn how to apply legislation, policy and guidance.
You will become part of a great working environment that includes our supply partners, client representatives, technical specialists and external partners. The ability to develop a network of relationships with internal and external colleagues and liaise with local communities and landowners to agree land access, share proposals and gain consents will be vital.
Responding to incidents is a central part of what we do. You will be required to have an incident role and make yourself available to respond to incidents or provide business continuity support during an incident. This may attract an additional payment and full training and alternative working arrangements will be available to support you with your incident role.
The team
We are Programme and Contracts Management (PCM), creating a better place through excellence in project and programme management.
Our team provides the Environment Agency with effective project and programme management, managing projects throughout their lifecycle, delivering flood risk management, environmental improvements and shared ownership with local communities.
This post sits within a team of Project Executives and Support Officers who manage the day-to-day delivery of projects within our flood and coastal erosion risk management programme.
