Description GNS Job Description – Assistant Project Manager Job Title Assistant Project Manager Department/Business Unit Operations Reports To Project Manager / Operations Manager FLSA Status Exempt Salary Based on Merit Purpose of Job Assist Project Managers and field leadership in the planning, coordination, documentation, and successful execution of electrical construction projects from preconstruction through project closeout. Support project operations through procurement coordination, document management, scheduling support, financial tracking, communication, and administrative project execution while developing the skills necessary for advancement into a Project Manager role. Primary Responsibilities, but not limited to: Assist Project Managers and Superintendents with day-to-day project coordination and administrative support. Review project drawings, specifications, contracts, and submittals to develop understanding of project scope and requirements. Support project startup activities including turnover meetings, document setup, permit tracking, and project logs. Assist with preparation, tracking, and distribution of RFIs, submittals, change orders, purchase orders, and project correspondence. Maintain organized project documentation in accordance with company standards and contract requirements. Assist with procurement activities including material tracking, vendor coordination, rental coordination, and delivery schedules. Support scheduling efforts by tracking milestones, long-lead items, manpower coordination, and schedule updates. Monitor project cost reports, budget updates, committed costs, and billing documentation under direction of the Project Manager. Assist with preparation of monthly forecasts, job status reports, and project financial tracking. Coordinate communication between field teams, vendors, subcontractors, clients, engineers, and internal departments. Attend project meetings and prepare meeting agendas, notes, and follow-up action items. Assist in identifying scope changes and support change order documentation and pricing efforts. Track project delays, documentation requirements, and closeout requirements. Support BIM coordination, layout coordination, and drawing/document revisions in conjunction with field leadership and BIM personnel. Maintain project logs including submittals, RFIs, change orders, procurement logs, and closeout documentation. Assist with project closeout activities including as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, punch lists, and final documentation turnover. Promote positive working relationships with clients, subcontractors, suppliers, and project team members. Support company safety standards, operational procedures, and quality expectations throughout project execution. Perform additional assignments and responsibilities as requested. Travel Requirements ? Travel to project sites as required ? May vary depending on project assignment Skills, Knowledge, Qualifications & Experience ? 2–5 years of construction or project coordination experience preferred ? Experience in commercial electrical construction preferred ? Basic understanding of construction drawings, specifications, and contracts ? Strong organizational and documentation skills ? Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines ? Strong communication and interpersonal skills ? Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel ? Ability and willingness to learn construction management software systems ? Basic understanding of scheduling, procurement, and cost tracking processes ? Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail ? Ability to work collaboratively with field and office teams ?
