Description

The Assistant Project Manager plays a vital role in supporting the Project Manager in overseeing project fabrication from inception to completion. The APM ensures projects stay on schedule, within budget, and meet quality expectations. Coordinate with technical staff and serve as a point of contact for the client and internal customers to provide any necessary assistance. The APM ensures the project’s design and functionality remains in focus throughout the project, and coordinates project deliverables and information flow between our client, in-house workshop, and vendors to ensure accuracy during production.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Experience in architectural millwork industry and 1-2 years of installation / site experience.
  • Either a bachelor’s degree with a major in Construction Management or at least 1-2 years of experience as a commercial construction as Project Engineer.
  • Effective Multitasking and Prioritization: Skilled in managing multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently.
  • Exceptional Communication Skills: Strong written, verbal, client-facing, and internal communication abilities.
  • Leadership and Interpersonal Expertise: Conflict management, team leadership, and building strong relationships.
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multi-tasking skills
  • Able to read architectural drawings and shop drawings.
  • The position requires flexibility to work over 40 hours as needed.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES:

Project Management (70%)

  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, and coordinating project activities.
  • Build out Project Workbook with PM to monitor project costs and reporting.
  • Serve as a point of contact for clients, subcontractors, and internal teams regarding project updates.
  • Ensure project management systems are maintained up-to-date and accurate.
  • Track, report, and work to improve procurement and production plans for the project.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial forecasts and cash flow projections for ongoing and upcoming projects.
  • Assist in evaluating the financial impact of change orders and ensure proper documentation and approval.
  • Assist Project Managers with reviewing and verifying vendor / subcontractor invoices for accuracy and completeness.
  • Support the review and processing of subcontractor payment applications in alignment with project progress.
  • Identify potential financial risks and provide recommendations for mitigation.
  • Schedule & Coordinate Budget Review Meetings w/ PM to ensure proper budgets & COGs are updated throughout the project.
  • Coordinate closeout documentation, including Warranties, O&M Manuals, and LEAD & FSC records with Project Engineers.
  • Oversee product deliveries and resolve material shortages with the project team.
  • Assist Project Managers with installation plans, labor tracking, and QA/QC processes, ensuring seamless document coordination between Field and In-House teams.
  • Coordinate with Project Managers and Field Teams on installation schedules, delivery plans, and product logistics.
  • Coordinate with Field Team to provide project safety plans per Edge and Client Standards.
  • Work to achieve project departmental goals.

Procurement and Production Support (30%)

  • Support Project Management with RFQ’s, Vendor Sourcing & timelines.
  • Coordinate with project team material takeoff’s, spec requirements & lead times.
  • Coordinate with internal team on project schedules and critical milestones.
  • Coordinate with Shop floor any Construction Details and Clarification needed to keep production progressing.
