Esplanade Builders, Inc. is a Southern California–based general contractor specializing in commercial tenant improvements, office, industrial, retail, and medical/laboratory construction projects. We are seeking a detail-oriented Assistant Project Manager (APM) to support our Project Managers in delivering high-quality projects on time and within budget. The APM will assist with coordinating subcontractors, managing project documentation, and ensuring seamless communication between the field and office. This role is ideal for someone with construction knowledge who thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment. Responsibilities Support Project Managers in all phases of construction projects, from pre-construction through closeout. Assist with estimating, bid solicitation, and subcontractor scope review. Manage and track Requests for Information (RFIs), submittals, change orders, and meeting minutes. Help prepare project schedules, procurement logs, and budget tracking reports. Coordinate communication between architects, engineers, clients, and subcontractors. Conduct jobsite visits to monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance. Maintain project files, drawings, and specifications using company standards. Support contract administration, including preparing subcontract agreements and reviewing pay applications. Utilize project management software and digital tools to ensure documentation accuracy and efficiency. Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field (or equivalent practical experience). 1–3 years of experience in commercial construction or tenant improvement projects preferred. Familiarity with construction documents, drawings, and specifications. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Project). Experience with Procore, Bluebeam, or similar construction management software a plus. Understanding of OSHA safety standards and general jobsite safety practices. Excellent communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Ability to multi-task and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment. Reliable transportation for jobsite visits across Southern California.
