About the job.  National Highways have an excellent opportunity for an Assistant Project Manager to join our team in Major Projects. As an Assistant Project Manager, you will contribute to the planning and delivery of projects, carrying out assigned project work to ensure the achievement of project objectives and KPIs within agreed time, quality, and cost thresholds, maintaining effective governance, quality assurance, health and safety, technical and specialist standards. Please note this position will be based from Birmingham however travel to regional offices and sites will be required. * Supporting the creation of high-quality baseline management products, the delivery of projects to delivery plan/ DfT/DCO compliance and other milestone commitments (including designated funds) within time, cost and quality parameters, produce timely and accurate reports, and create and maintain specified records.  * Overseeing feasibility, design, and assessment work for proposed and existing projects, to inform the development of business cases, investment proposals and other governance requirements.  * Planning and defining project steps or schedules, consistent with defined review milestones and priorities, to contribute to the design and delivery of the overall project plan.  * Actively supporting the Project Manager in day-to-day project activities including but not limited to commercial management contract compliance, risk and issue management, health & safety, financial management and reporting, quality control and assurance. * Act as a first point of contact for Stakeholders and Customers, both internal and external, and lead on engagement with stakeholders to ensure direction of the project is maintained. About you.  * Suitable qualification and/or experience, ideally with a professional accreditation: Full Member of APM (Association for Project Management) or appropriate professional body. * Experience of health & safety standards, controls and behaviours within multiple team reporting structures within project delivery. * Excellent collaborator, to proactively gain the involvement and engagement of a wide range of stakeholders. * Good communication, presentation and analytical skills, to develop, analyse and provide commentary on project plans and performance.  * Ability to manage quality assurance across large-scale, high-risk projects, whilst ensuring compliance with organisational governance standards.
