The Opportunity:
We are currently recruiting for a dedicated Assistant Project Manager to join our HS2 Department at Murphy Geospatial on a 12-month Fixed-Term Contract. Responsibilities

WHAT WILL I BE DOING IN MY NEW ROLE?

  • HS2 Compliance & Safety:
  • Thoroughly understand and promote the Health & Safety and Environmental Policies tailored for HS2.
  • Monitor compliance among site personnel and ensure adherence to HS2 safety protocols
  • Actively assist in the creation and management of risk assessments, health & safety documentation, and methodologies following departmental guidelines.
  • Project Management & Collaboration:
  • Independently lead and manage small-scale HS2 projects, ensuring timely delivery within allocated budget and quality standards.
  • Provide pivotal support in the execution of larger HS2 projects, aiding the Project Manager as needed.
  • Foster robust communication between colleagues, managers, and other Project Managers, promoting collaboration and transparency.
  • Submit daily updates on project progress and potential challenges, particularly when aiding larger initiatives.
  • Training & Development:
  • Contribute to the onboarding and training of personnel, emphasizing HS2-specific nuances.
  • Attend necessary training courses and inductions tailored for HS2 demands.
  • Operational & Commercial Oversight:
  • Display commercial acumen, understanding project financial implications and opportunities for upselling other services.
  • Attend operations meetings, strategizing around resource allocation and project scheduling.
  • Engage in the thorough preparation of project documentation, encompassing permits, quality papers, work packages, task briefs, and project programmes.
  • Assist in drafting quotes, tenders, and other requested documents.
  • Professionalism & Communication:
  • Uphold the highest standards of professionalism in interactions with the public, clients, and fellow colleagues.
  • Attend project briefings, actively participating and offering constructive feedback during site meetings.
  • Diligently log daily work activities and hours using the Job Diary (Kompass) system.
  • Technical & Administrative:
  • Liaise with the data team, ensuring seamless data flow for project completion.
  • Effectively brief and debrief field teams, ensuring alignment with HS2 requirements.
  • Assist in creating and updating department-specific manuals, report templates, and other pertinent documentation.

REQUIREMENTS OF THE ROLE:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a related role
  • Health, Safety and Environmental Training – SPA, RAMS, lone working etc
  • CSCS/MSite/SSSTS Desirable
  • Relevant Management Training
  • Ability to travel nationwide
  • Cat B driver’s License
  • Very good level of English
  • APM Qualification Desirable
