Description The Assistant Project Manager is responsible for leading the Project Team, which may include Project Engineer(s) and Project Superintendent(s) in all efforts required to manage construction projects safely, on time, within budget, and to the quality standards expected by our clients. It is the Assistant Project Manager’s responsibility to protect and promote Buch Construction’s interests in all matters and do whatever is reasonably required to fulfill his or her duties and responsibilities. Duties and Responsibilities The Assistant Project Manager will conduct business operations from the office, the field, or likely a combination of both. They will be responsible for: Knowing and understanding the inherent risks and hazards of the construction industry. The safety of each and every person on site is of supreme importance. Promoting and maintaining a safe project site, and monitoring and enforcing the Buch Safety Program in accordance with Buch policies and all federal, state, and local laws is paramount; Providing operational support and oversight in all phases of the project, preconstruction, construction, and closeout; Assisting, or leading, the preconstruction efforts including budgeting and bidding projects; Developing trade specific scopes of work; Preparing subcontract agreements and purchase orders; Procuring materials and coordinating subcontractors; Developing and maintaining project schedules; Coordinating, reviewing, and tracking submittals and RFI’s to ensure schedules are maintained; Incorporating submittal and RFI responses, and drawing revisions into the construction documents to ensure a complete and current set is available at all times; Tracking and managing changes and project controls; Preparing closeout documents consisting of as-built record drawings, operations and maintenance manuals, and warranties; Assisting with environmentally responsible and sustainable construction. Job Location(s) New York City, NY – Servicing the New York City Metropolitan and surrounding Northeast Region Position Type Full-Time Benefits Medical, Dental, Vision, Disability, Life Benefits; 401k Plan; Paid Time Off Pay Range Annual Salary $70,000 - $85,000 (bonus potential) Requirements Qualifications & Required Skills The Assistant Project Manager should have at least 3 years (minimum) relevant work experience and have a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a related field, or at a minimum, an Associate’s Degree in Construction Management with related field experience. The Assistant Project Manager should have a basic knowledge of principles and practices of design and construction, including safety and quality standards. The Assistant Project Manager should be organized with an ability to properly manage their time, and their team’s time, by prioritizing tasks. They should be analytical and possess critical thinking and problem-solving skills. They should possess strong communication skills, both verbal and writing, and be able to interact and collaborate with coworkers, clients, and outside vendors to provide quality work. They should be self-motivated and committed. They should show initiative to learn and further grow into a leadership position. The Assistant Project Manager must be proficient in the use of computers and other similar technology, and should be experienced in the use of various software applications, such as MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint), Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, P6, and have the capability to learn new software applications specific to the industry, such as those necessary for estimating, project management, and project controls. Physical Requirements Candidates must be aware of the physical demands of the construction industry and may be required to perform physical labor and other strenuous tasks necessary to the successful completion of projects. Candidates must be able to lift up to 40 pounds. They may be required to sit and stand for periods of time and travel significant distances in a given day. They must be capable of performing tasks that may require bending, reaching, pushing, pulling, climbing and crawling. Candidates must have the ability to work in all weather conditions.
Responsibilities
