Job Summary/Purpose: The Project Engineer supports purchasing, estimating, and permitting functions to ensure smooth project execution. This role involves working closely with the estimating, purchasing, and project management teams to maintain efficiency in bidding, procurement, and compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, organized, and eager to develop in the construction industry. Primary Responsibilities: * Purchasing & Procurement: * Assist in soliciting and evaluating bids from subcontractors and suppliers. * Prepare purchase orders and track material deliveries. * Maintain and update vendor and subcontractor databases. * Assist in negotiating contracts and pricing with suppliers. * Estimating: * Support the estimating team in preparing cost estimates and quantity takeoffs. * Analyze construction drawings and specifications to identify scope and cost factors. * Assist with bid proposals and assembling bid packages. * Track historical cost data and help refine estimating tools. * Permitting & Compliance: * Prepare and submit permit applications to local municipalities. * Track permit status and follow up with agencies as needed. * Coordinate with city and county officials to ensure compliance with zoning and building codes. * Maintain organized records of permits and approvals for each project. Skills, Qualifications, Knowledge, Requirements/Experience/Education: * Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field (preferred) or equivalent experience. * 1-3 years of experience in construction project support, estimating, purchasing, or permitting (internship experience considered). * Strong understanding of construction documents, plans, and specifications. * Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook) and construction software (Procore, Bluebeam, PlanGrid, or similar). * Excellent communication and organizational skills. * Ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. * Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. * Detail-oriented with a proactive mindset.
