Skills & Knowledge:

  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Project, Outlook); experience with Procore, Smartsheet, or similar tools is a plus
  • Understanding of solar PV systems, permitting, and construction workflows
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment

Education & Experience:

  • Education:: Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, renewable energy, business, or a related field preferred; equivalent work experience considered.
  • Experience:: 2–4 years of project coordination or assistant project management experience; solar or construction industry experience strongly preferred.
  • Certifications:: OSHA 10 or 30 preferred; PMP, NABCEP, or Lean/Agile certifications a plus.

ROLE:

WHC Energy Services – A Surerus Murphy Company (WHC), is seeking to recruit Assistant Project Manager to oversee the estimation and construction of oil & gas facility construction projects across North America
The Assistant Project Manager (APM) – Solar supports the successful execution of solar energy projects by coordinating logistics, managing documentation, assisting with scheduling and budgeting, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. This role is ideal for candidates with foundational project management skills and a strong interest in renewable energy or construction project delivery.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist the Project Manager in planning, scheduling, budgeting, and tracking progress of solar construction or development projects.
  • Coordinate between engineering, procurement, construction, and subcontractor teams to ensure timely and efficient project delivery.
  • Prepare and manage project documentation including RFIs, submittals, change orders, meeting minutes, and progress reports.
  • Monitor project schedules using tools such as Microsoft Project, Primavera P6, or similar; update timelines and flag potential delays.
  • Support procurement efforts by tracking material orders, deliveries, and inventory on site.
  • Help ensure compliance with project specifications, safety standards, environmental regulations, and permitting requirements.
  • Attend and document project meetings; follow up on assigned action items.
  • Participate in cost control activities, including tracking invoices, analyzing budget variances, and forecasting remaining costs.
  • Assist in the preparation of client presentations, status updates, and internal reports.
  • Support site visits, inspections, and punch list resolution as needed.
