Assistant Project Officer Grade: 5/6 Salary range: $99,938-$110,271 + superannuation and leave loading Duration: temporary full time role for up to 12 months Location: Hybrid with an in-office requirement 2 days a week in Sydney, McKell. This may be subject to change in line with DCS workplace policies Support the delivery of projects that uplift and protect critical network services. We are seeking a proactive and highly organised Project Support Officer to provide high‑quality administrative, coordination and reporting support across projects and initiatives within the Tech Ops environment. About the team This role sits within the Tech Ops team, reporting to the Manager, Service Governance and Performance. The team is responsible for driving initiatives and projects that uplift network capability, performance and resilience. The environment is fast‑paced, collaborative and delivery‑focused, supporting work that underpins critical network operations. Your responsibilities will include Supporting the planning, coordination and delivery of projects and workstreams, including tracking milestones, risks, issues and deliverables Preparing, maintaining and managing project documentation, records and reporting materials such as plans, briefs, presentations and status reports Monitoring and reporting on project progress, performance and outcomes, supporting governance processes including risk, change and financial tracking Providing administrative and logistical support to project teams, including meeting coordination, scheduling and stakeholder communication Working collaboratively with project teams and business stakeholders to support delivery priorities and respond to changing requirements Taking ownership of allocated tasks, exercise judgement within defined scope, and escalate issues as required to meet agreed timeframes and standards Contributing to continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to streamline processes and improve project support practices For more information on the role and its accountabilities, click here to view the role description. To be successful in this role you will have Essential Security Clearance: You will be able to obtain and retain minimum Baseline Security clearance within six months to work with sensitive government and critical communications information Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines Excellent written communication skills and attention to detail, particularly when preparing reports, briefings and correspondence Proven experience providing administrative or project support, including documentation, records management and coordination activities Ability to work autonomously, show initiative and adapt to changing priorities Strong collaboration skills and the ability to engage effectively with a range of stakeholders Nice to have: Experience working in a project environment or familiarity with project management methodologies Strong Excel or data tracking and reporting capability Experience using SharePoint, records management systems or similar platforms Exposure to preparing project briefs, reporting packs or governance documentation A continuous improvement mindset, with an interest in streamlining processes and improving ways of working A talent pool may be created from this recruitment action for future temporary or ongoing vacancies in roles with similar capability requirements.
