As NHS Scotland’s unique provider of a national tele-health and tele-care service, we are responsible for the delivery of health advice and information by telephone and online services to the population of Scotland 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. Responsibilities

THE ROLE

This role supports and enhances the psychological care of clients within the enhanced psychology pathway of NHS 24 Psychological Services, focusing on digital psychological assessments and interventions. Working under the supervision of a qualified practitioner psychologist, you’ll follow an agreed care plan within the team’s policies and procedures. The post also involves contributing to clinical administration, supporting audits and research projects, collecting data, and assisting with teaching activities.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assist in the formulation and delivery of care plans involving the psychological treatment and/or management of a client’s problems, under the supervision of a practitioner psychologist
  • Contribute to the development and maintenance of the highest professional standards of practice, through active participation in internal and external CPD training and development programmes, in consultation with the postholder’s manager
  • Assist with small-scale research, audit and service evaluation, and service development projects as required
  • Undertake protocol based psychological assessments of clients by applying psychological tests, self-report measures, rating scales, direct and indirect structured observations, and semi-structured interviews with clients as appropriate
  • Communicate sensitive and complex ideas within therapy whilst paying attention to the changing needs of the patient
  • Ensure that requirements for informed consent are observed when communicating about a patient with a third party or when soliciting their participation in research
