The Research Foundation for Mental Hygiene, Inc. is seeking a qualified candidates to fill the position of Assistant Public Information Officer (specializing in Multimedia & Visual Content) in the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), Division of Internal and External Affairs to focus on traditional media relations and other digital platforms, with this position dedicated to engaging the public through compelling video, audio, and still image assets.
The role is a core part of the communications team, managing the crucial flow of information between the agency and the public, media, and key stakeholders. It demands a high degree of independence and proactive initiative, requiring the successful candidate to represent the agency, acquire information, and deliver impactful visual and auditory content from various locations across New York State.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree and 3 years of relevant progressively demonstrated experience working as a videographer and multimedia content producer, ideally within the public-facing or communications-intensive environment; OR
- Associate’s degree and 5 years of relevant experience; OR
- 7 years of relevant progressively demonstrated experience working as a videographer and multimedia content producer, ideally within the public-facing or communications-intensive environment
- Master’s degree or J.D. may substitute for 1 year of relevant experience
- D. may substitute for 2 years of relevant experience
- Candidate must possess a valid license to operate a motor vehicle in New York State at the time of appointment and continuously thereafter
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Expert in all aspects of video production, including professional camera work, sound, lighting, and editing, as well as graphic design and photography.
- Expert command of industry-standard software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro, Photoshop, After Effects).
- Able to create compelling visual and auditory narratives that translate complex information into clear and impactful messages.
- Strong capacity to develop original and engaging visual concepts that align with agency goals.
- Demonstrate ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet strict deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
