Title: Assistant Quantity Surveyor Location: Romford Contract Type: Permanent We are seeking an Assistant Quantity Surveyor to join our Passive Fire Protection business unit. The successful candidate will play a key role in joining the commercial team and financial aspects of projects, ensuring cost control, contractual compliance, and maximising value across multiple passive fire protection schemes. This role is suited to a commercially astute professional with specialist knowledge or strong interest in the fire protection sector. What You Will Be Doing: * Prepare, review, and negotiate contracts, subcontracts, and variations in line with company policies. * Provide accurate cost forecasting, cashflow projections, and monthly valuations. * Assess, submit, and agree interim applications for payment and final accounts. * Review and comment against commercial risk management to line management, identifying and mitigating potential risks. * Provide cost advice and value engineering input during project planning and delivery. * Collaborate with project managers, site teams, and clients to ensure smooth delivery and financial control. * Oversee procurement of subcontractors, suppliers, and materials. * Ensure compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and company procedures. * Mentor and support commercial team within the business unit. About You: * Degree-qualified (or equivalent) in Quantity Surveying, Commercial Management, or related discipline. * Knowledge and experience in passive fire protection, fire-stopping, or associated building safety disciplines highly desirable. * Strong contractual knowledge (JCT/NEC and subcontract agreements). * Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills. * Strong analytical, financial, and reporting skills. * Ability to manage multiple projects and prioritise effectively. * Proficiency in relevant software (Excel, measurement tools, cost management systems).
