THE COMPANY

· The client we represent is a large and recognised specialist civils subcontractor based in North West London. They cover RC Frame, Groundworks, Demolition and associated works.
· They have a turnover in the region of £140m, with projects up to the value of £40m.

REQUIREMENTS

  • Degree (or working towards) in Quantity Surveying, Construction Economics, or a related discipline.
  • Experience in cut & carve, refurbishment, or structural alteration projects is essential.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years’ industry experience (Assistant / Junior QS level).
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Good IT skills, including MS Office and QS software.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ambition to progress towards a Quantity Surveyor role with ongoing training and development.
Responsibilities

As an Assistant Quantity Surveyor, you will support the commercial management of cut & carve and refurbishment projects, working closely with senior surveyors and project teams. You’ll gain exposure to the full project lifecycle while developing your technical and commercial expertise.

  • Assist in the preparation of cost estimates, budgets, and bills of quantities.
  • Support procurement of subcontractors and suppliers, including tender analysis.
  • Measure and value works carried out on-site.
  • Assist in the management of variations, interim valuations, and final accounts.
  • Support financial reporting and cash flow forecasting.
  • Liaise with project managers, engineers, and site teams to ensure accurate cost control.
  • Contribute to value engineering and risk management activities.
  • Ensure compliance with contractual and company requirements.
