ASSISTANT RECREATION COORDINATOR

Tulsa Boys’ Home – Sand Springs, OK
Tulsa Boys’ Home is seeking a dedicated and energetic Assistant Recreation Coordinator to support and help lead our therapeutic recreation programs. This role is essential in assisting with the design and implementation of structured, meaningful, and engaging activities that foster growth, well-being, and positive experiences for our residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing a comprehensive master plan for therapeutic recreation, including activity schedules, dates, and participation details.
  • Help create and maintain an up-to-date annual Recreation Program Description binder.
  • Facilitate and coordinate recreation activities, with an emphasis on summer programming.
  • Assist in planning, organizing, and executing Tulsa Boys’ Home-sponsored events, including the Running Club and Nicholas Club.
  • Provide support for Boy Scout meetings, activities, and required documentation.
  • Assist in developing and maintaining program evaluation systems, including pre- and post-testing for residents.
  • Help ensure recreation facilities, equipment, and supplies are well-maintained, clean, and properly managed.
  • Assist with the evaluation of all major recreation programs annually, such as summer school, ropes course, and special events.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by the Recreation Coordinator, Program Director, or Executive Director.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years old, per OKDHS contract requirements.
  • High school diploma required; bachelor’s degree in Recreation or a related field preferred.
  • Two years of direct care experience preferred, but not required.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability and organizational skills.
  • Valid Oklahoma driver’s license and eligibility for agency vehicle insurance.
  • Cultural awareness and sensitivity to the diverse backgrounds of the residents served.

Schedule

  • Wednesday – Friday: 2:00 PM – 8:00 PM
  • Saturday: 10:00 AM – 8:00 PM
  • Sunday: 11:00 AM – 7:00 PM
