Assistant Registrar G1 Art Handling & Packing Temporary, up to November 2027 Full time Sydney CBD - The Domain Assistant Registrar Grade 1 Total Remuneration Package up to $99,921 Salary Range (71,777 to $88,035) Established in 1871, the Art Gallery of New South Wales is located in Sydney’s The Domain adjacent to the Royal Botanic Garden and near the Central Business District, the Gallery acknowledges the original custodians of this land – the Gadigal people. The Art Gallery attracts around 2 million visitors annually and runs Australia’s largest education program with over 90,000 student and teacher visits per year. About the Role The role is responsible for collection management activities relating to object packing, storage, handling and transport logistics. This position in centered on the development of bespoke packing for collection items and key collection management activities within Collection Storage and Logistics team. What Technical/Soft Skills you require Substantial experience in moving, packing and handling art, coupled with manual dexterity and proven experience in fine art packing and handling. Good communication and organisational skills Hold a current NSW driver’s license Targeted Questions When packing an artwork from the Gallery Collection that is going on outward loan to another cultural institution for exhibition & display, what issues would you need to consider for successful packing/transit and what information should you provide for the safe handling and installation at the borrowing institution (max 300 words) Provide an example of when you worked in a collaborative environment on concurrent projects with multiple deadlines.
