About the Role

This role is a one year pilot which will take the lead on in-house investigations for cases involving sexual misconduct, which would historically have been conducted by external suppliers.
The Assistant Registrar – Conduct and Resolution performs the core functions of the University’s student disciplinary process within the Conduct and Resolution Team, including acting as case handler or Investigating Officer for a range of student misconduct cases which arise from complaints made by a wide range of external and internal stakeholders. Working closely with a wide range of stakeholders from across the institution, the postholder will act as a key point of contact on a range of Student Conduct issues, managing cases and investigations within agreed timescales and in accordance with the University’s Regulations and processes as well as external best practice from bodies such as UUK and the OIA.
We will consider applications for employment on a part-time or other flexible working basis, even where a position is advertised as full-time, unless there are operational or other objective reasons why it is not possible to do so.
About You
To succeed in this role, the postholder will need to have experience of conducting investigations into complex and sensitive matters, including sexual misconduct, with a proven ability to gather evidence and interact with stakeholders in a trauma informed and professional manner. The postholder will manage multiple competing priorities, including cases that cover a wide range of issues and that are often complex in nature. A flexible approach is required in order to meet the changing needs of the service, as well as a proactive approach to problem solving with due consideration of potential risks and adverse consequences. Good written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail are essential, as the postholder will be required to explain/present complex information in an accessible and user-friendly way. The postholder need to be able to demonstrate that they can conduct interviews with complainants, respondents and witnesses with tact and diplomacy.
Due to the nature of the role the postholder will be required to demonstrate that they can manage highly sensitive and confidential information with tact and discretion.

About the Department
The Conduct and Resolution Team is responsible for delivery of processes relating to non-academic student misconduct disclosures and reports. The Conduct and Resolution Team administers the University’s conduct and resolution policies and processes, from formal complaint through to reaching a Disciplinary Committee and the Student Liaison Team covering sexual misconduct, bullying and harassment, discrimination and hate crime. The Team also includes the Mediation Service and Community Values Education Programme.
The Conduct and Resolution team works closely with the University Complaints team, Wellbeing and Safeguarding, Residential Community teams and Community Safety, as well as other stakeholders across the institution.
