Description

We have an exciting opportunity for a part time Assistant Vision Rehabilitation Specialist (VRS) to join the Sensory Impairment Team within adult social care at Croydon Council. In this role, you will triage all referrals to the sensory Impairment team, giving advice, information, signposting and onward referrals for adult service users who have a visual impairment or dual-sensory impairment and their families.
You will be require a good level of knowledge and experience of identifying the needs of someone with a visual impairment. You will be responsible for communicating with all duty contacts to the team, undertaking initial assessment over the telephone and identifying levels of need and risk. When required, you will also undertake duty home visits for short term actions such as demonstration of replacement equipment.
You will be joining a team of experienced sensory impairment specialists, including Vision Rehabilitation Specialists and a Dual Sensory/Deafblind specialist worker. This is an exciting time to join the Sensory Impairment Team as we continue to develop to meet the growing demand for vision rehabilitation services in the borough.

Good level of knowledge and experience of the needs of someone with a visual impairment or dual sensory loss. Good level of written and oral communication skills. Good understanding of the role of the sensory impairment team. Good level of IT skills.
