Our goals centre around awa o te atua, the menstrual cycle, which is a key health indicator and a core aspect of overall wellbeing that is experienced by billions of people worldwide. As a Centre, we aim to improve the mental, physical, and spiritual hauora of all those who have/have had menstrual cycles, and their communities, in Aotearoa New Zealand and across the Pacific. Central to this aim is whakawhanaunga, building the relationships necessary to promote and facilitate research related to the menstrual cycle that is interdisciplinary, collaborative, and encompassing of multiple knowledges. Te mahi | The role As an Assistant Research Fellow in the Centre for Menstrual Cycle Research (CMCR), you will support the research and outreach activities of the Centre. Key tasks of the role include contributing to the following objectives: • Establishing and supporting a community advisory panel for Menstrual Cycle Research. • Producing the Aotearoa New Zealand Menstrual Cycle Research Landscape, a living 'state of the nation' statement of the past, present, and future of MCH knowledge in Aotearoa New Zealand. • Compiling a Kete of menstrual cycle Resources to be hosted on our website. • Helping to host community engagement events to foster outreach. • Developing a capacity building service to advance research and other activities in the CMCR. • Expanding engagement with The Monthly, our research and networking online workshop. • Facilitating organisation of the annual Menstrual Cycle Research Hui. Kā pūkeka me kā wheako | Your skills and experience We are looking for a self-motivated candidate that has excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to work without direct supervision, set priorities and allocate their own timetable. They will be able to think logically, understand complex ideas and communicate scientific and research concepts to various audiences, have strong attention to detail with excellent teamwork skills. Additionally, the successful candidate will have: • A minimum of an Honours degree in a relevant field, with a strong understanding of the research that is carried out in the Centre. • Proven experience in high quality scientific writing. • Knowledge of Microsoft and Adobe software, including Word, PowerPoint and Excel. • Knowledge of content management systems as well as a variety of social media platforms. Pūroko | Further details This is a part-time (0.25 FTE) fixed term position (until 21 December 2029) position, located in Ōtepoti, Dunedin. The appointment range to this role is $62,496 to $84,125 pro rata per annum. You must have the right to live and work in New Zealand to apply for this position.
