Description

The University of Florida seeks an Assistant Research Scientist (12-month, non-tenure track faculty appointment in the School of Special Education, School Psychology, and Early Childhood Studies) to work closely with center and project investigators to advance new and ongoing research enterprises within the mission and vision of a relatively new center - UF Prevention and Intervention Network (PIN). The Assistant Research Scientist is expected to play an integral role in current extramural awards, primarily including Project Thrive, while collaborating with center investigators and affiliated faculty/staff to build a portfolio of independent and collaborative research and technical assistance.
PIN (https://education.ufl.edu/prevention-intervention-network/) is an interdisciplinary center of faculty, staff and students dedicated to promoting healthy development and well-being for youth through leading research in prevention science. PIN connects multidisciplinary, translational research in prevention and intervention science at a premier research institution making a strong collective impact on our communities and society. Our guiding vision is to be a primary, reliable resource for prevention and intervention science as it relates to children and youth’s social, physical, mental, and educational well-being. PIN’s mission and vision is executed across three focus areas: Research, Training, and Engagement. We seek a colleague and collaborator to join with us in growing PIN’s impact in these ways. The Assistant Research Scientist position will entail two primary responsibilities. First towards advancing their own portfolio of extramurally-funded research and enterprise development in collaboration with PIN investigators, affiliated faculty, staff, and students. Second, as a co-investigator on Project Thrive, the Assistant Research Scientist is expected to manage evaluation and data collection activities assigned in coordination with project investigators, project staff, and site staff; provide professional development, training, coaching, and/or technical assistance to school and/or district partners as needed; and assist PIs and project staff to review formative evaluation results regularly to suggest enhancements and support installation.
