We are a 286-room hotel with 8 conferencing and event facilities hosting all events from Corporate groups to sports teams. Job Description We’re looking for a professional and customer-focused Assistant Restaurant & Bar Manager to join our team at Novotel Canberra! In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll support the Food & Beverage Manager in running daily operations, delivering outstanding service, and maintaining high standards across the venue. What You’ll Be Doing: Help manage the day-to-day operations of the restaurant and bar Support and guide the team through training and supervision Assist with rostering and shift scheduling Contribute to menu planning and pricing Monitor and uphold quality standards in food and beverage service Support budgeting and cost control efforts Ensure compliance with health, safety, and hospitality standards Oversee inventory and stock control Manage cash handling and reconcile daily sales Respond to customer enquiries and feedback professionally Maintain a clean, welcoming environment for guests Qualifications 2–3 years’ experience in restaurant or bar management Proven leadership and team supervision in hospitality Passion for delivering exceptional customer service Skilled in staff training and development Confident using POS systems and inventory software Solid understanding of food & beverage operations, including menu planning and wine pairing Knowledge of Australian health & safety regulations Experience with budgeting and cost control Excellent communication and people skills Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and public holidays Hospitality Management qualification (preferred) Current RSA certification Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities Additional Information In return for your commitment, we offer: Enjoy discounted Heartist® rates across our global network of properties, food and beverage venues, and wellness centers.
