About the role

The Goldfinch NZ Limited is seeking an Assistant Restaurant Manager to join our team in Christchurch, based in the Central Canterbury area. This is a full-time position that offers an exciting opportunity to develop your hospitality management career in a dynamic restaurant environment. As Assistant Restaurant Manager, you will play a key role in supporting the day-to-day operations of our restaurant, ensuring exceptional service standards and a memorable dining experience for all our guests. You will work closely with the Restaurant Manager to oversee staff, manage customer satisfaction, and contribute to the overall success of the establishment.

Key responsibilities

• Supervise and support the front-of-house and back-of-house teams to ensure smooth daily operations and adherence to service standards.
• Train, coach and develop restaurant staff, including servers, hosts and kitchen support personnel.
• Manage customer service enquiries and resolve complaints professionally and promptly to maintain guest satisfaction.
• Oversee table management, reservations and seating arrangements to optimise guest experience.
• Support the Restaurant Manager with scheduling and staff rostering.
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation standards throughout the dining areas and back-of-house facilities.
• Contribute to Bar menu and upselling initiatives to enhance revenue.
• Liaise with kitchen staff to ensure timely and accurate food preparation and presentation.
