JOB SUMMARY

As an experienced Assistant Safety Lead, you will be a resourceful, intelligent, confident and dedicated professional who is committed to building our clients’ trust through clarity and integrity. You will be a fair, fun and firm team player who believes in mutually respectful relationships. You will be responsible for assisting with the coordination and communication of the safety program and safety initiatives on all of Unitech’s projects and Head Office. You will act as a conduit for all safety information throughout the organization and be actively involved in all aspects of the safety function. This role will be reporting to the Corporate Safety Lead.

KEY QUALIFICATIONS

  • Prior experience in construction health & safety (minimum 5 years) demonstrating a positive attitude, personality, and skills.
  • Exemplary English, analytic, and communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work efficiently with a service-oriented attitude, courtesy, tact, and diplomacy under stressful situations with constant interruption.
  • Current level 2 first aid certification.
  • COR internal auditor certification or in progress.
  • CRSP (Canadian Registered Safety Professional) designation preferred or in progress.
  • CSO (Construction Safety Officer) or NCSO (National Construction Safety Officer) certification obtained or in progress.
  • A strong understanding of safety code, rules, and regulations.
  • Committed to maintaining mutually respectful relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
  • Ability to effectively manage time, responsibilities, and priorities.
  • Proficient with computers, multi-line telephone systems, and email.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and skills in keyboarding.
  • Valid driver’s license
