Description Introduction: RETTEW is seeking a motivated Safety Intern to join our Safety Team for the Summer 2026 term. This internship offers hands-on field and office experience, professional mentorship, and the chance to contribute to meaningful safety projects that protect our people, our clients, and our communities. Position Summary / What You’ll Do: As a Safety Intern, you will support RETTEW’s Safety Team with program development, training, audits, and field assignments. You will work alongside experienced safety professionals to gain exposure to industrial hygiene, regulatory compliance, construction safety oversight, and client-specific safety initiatives. This role will help you build skills and knowledge for a future career in safety or environmental health. Responsibilities / Day-to-Day: Assist with site safety audits for construction, industrial, and energy projects Support hazard assessments (PPE/respiratory protection, confined space, silica, etc.) Conduct or assist with industrial hygiene sampling (air quality, noise,) Help review and revise internal safety programs and procedures Assist with developing safety communications (Safety Alerts, Safety Minutes, training materials) Support training efforts: co-instruct or observe client and employee training sessions (e.g., excavation, HAZWOPER, rigging, CPR/AED, PPE) Participate in program reviews, performance data analysis, and KPI development for varying clients Contribute to project documentation, reporting, and safety equipment calibration/testing Collaborate with safety staff, engineers, and project managers on active projects Qualifications: Required Current enrollment in Safety Sciences, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Science, or related field Strong academic standing Proficiency in MS Office and ability to learn safety-related software/tools Strong communication and teamwork skills Willingness to work in both field and office environments Preferred Previous safety internship or relevant project experience Familiarity with OSHA, MSHA, or other safety regulations and standards Experience with safety audits, sampling equipment, or safety training What We Offer: Competitive hourly rate ($20/hour) Mentorship from experienced safety professionals Exposure to real-world client projects across industries Networking opportunities with peers and RETTEW leadership A culture that values ownership, relationships, and excellence RETTEW is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
