Description JOB SUMMARY The Assistant Service Manager supports the daily operations of the Service Department by coordinating repair and maintenance activities for ambulance and emergency response vehicles. This position ensures timely completion of service work, promotes exceptional customer service, assists with technician workflow, and helps maintain compliance with industry, manufacturers, and safety standards. The Assistant Service Manager serves as a liaison between customers, technicians, parts, warranty, and production teams to ensure efficient service delivery. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: • Providing support to service techs including coaching, training, and helping complete projects. • Act as the primary point of contact for service inquiries, estimate costs, manage work orders, invoicing, and handle escalated complaints. • Supervising technicians and service personnel, planning and scheduling their duties, assigning work, and following up on completion of assignments. • Coaching service department teammates on all operational issues of working within the service standards. • Collaborating directly with customers in areas of sales, service, customer opportunities, adjustments, etc. • Managing parts inventory by utilizing purchase orders and sales orders. • Ensuring shop safety, including the use of and maintenance of safety equipment. • Ensuring equipment/hardware layout and positioning within the service department. • Supervising shop area, equipment, and teammates for compliance with company safety procedure. Requirements Required Education and Experience: • Associate degree in Automotive Technology, Business Management, or related field preferred. • Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered. Experience • 3–5 years of experience in vehicle service, fleet maintenance, heavy-duty truck, emergency vehicle, or ambulance service operations. • Previous supervisory or team leadership experience preferred. • Experience in ambulance manufacturing or emergency vehicle service is highly desirable. Experience in the EMS industry is a plus. Qualifications and experience: • Outstanding leadership and shop management skills. • Highly organized and meticulous, with the ability to mentor others in a manner that ensures efficiency. • Excellent verbal and written communication • Ability to develop professional relationships with customers and team members • Proven history of exceeding business objectives • Proficiency in scheduling software, POS systems, and general mechanical or operational knowledge of the automotive industry. • 2 to 5 years of experience in automotive customer service and/or supervisory role. • Ability to work efficiently both individually and as part of a team. • Solid knowledge of basic OSHA laws and MSDS Compliance. • Maintain a clean and respectable driving Motor Vehicle Record.
