    Grange Resources Tasmania is on the lookout for a Assistant Shotfirer to join our operation in Savage River.
    In this role, you will be exposed to cutting edge remote electronic initiation systems, bulk explosives systems and remote explosives loading technology.
    The explosives loading and stemming is largely mechanised, with mechanical hose retraction and stemming loaders, with minimal small hose work.
    Roster: 7 days on 7 days off roster

Grange holds long term supply contracts for one million tonnes of its annual production and offers the balance of its production to market via a spot sales tendering/contracting process.

Responsibilities

In this role you will be responsible for:

  • Quality Assurance & Control across the Drill & Blast process
  • Assisting the Shotfirer in on-bench blasting activities
  • Recording and reporting of explosive usage and blast details
  • Misfire management
  • Assisting the priming, loading, stemming, and firing of blast holes
  • Assisting the preparation of blast areas and delineation
  • Storage and handling of explosives and initiation system

To be successful in this role you have:

  • Commitment to working safely in an isolated environment with minimal supervision
  • Current full manual driver’s licence
  • Current shot-firer permit preferred
  • Security – sensitive dangerous substances permit – including PMV check
  • Experience with handling explosives in an open-cut mine or quarry
  • Demonstrable experience as a Shotfirer or Shotfirer’s Assistan
