Description POSITION SUMMARY The Assistant Sommelier supports The Pulpo Group’s beverage program by assisting in the day-to-day operations of wine service, inventory management, ordering, and staff education. This role works closely with the Director of Wine to ensure an exceptional guest experience and the smooth, organized operation of our wine program across all properties. This is a full time position with the average work week of 40 hours. CORE DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES ADMINISTRATIVE Assist in conducting monthly wine inventory across all locations using BinWise. Support the ordering process across all locations for wine and beverage products, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and adhering to budgeted costs. Assist with receiving, organizing, and rotating wine stock. Maintain cellar storage, including accurate bin placement and inventory labeling. Monitor wine list accuracy and assist in updating menus as needed. Support tracking of breakage, spoilage, and vintage transitions. Conduct glassware inventory and tracking breakage. Prepare data and reports for wine sales, inventory, and purchasing trends. SALES & EVENT SUPPORT Assist with staff wine training sessions, including preparation of materials, setup, and delivery of content. Act as a resource for servers and bartenders, reinforcing knowledge and confidence in wine sales. Work with the Director of Wine on special events, wine dinners, and promotional programming. Participate in supplier and distributor tastings alongside the Director of Wine to evaluate potential additions to the wine program. Requirements Familiarity with Excel for inventory and order tracking. Experience using BinWise or similar inventory management systems. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Consistently model professionalism and hospitality in adherence to our company values Passion for wine, with a willingness to learn and grow within the program. Previous hospitality or wine service experience preferred. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to lift and carry up to 40 lbs regularly. Ability to ascend and descend stairs Comfortable working in both front-of-house and cellar environments.
