Job Details Job Location: San Diego, CA 92101 Salary Range: $24.75 - $25.75 Hourly The Old Globe seeks a full-time Assistant Sound Director. This role assists the Sound Director in ensuring smooth rehearsals, load-ins, and technical rehearsals of our 14 productions per year, in addition to providing audio support for other departments around the Globe. Key Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: Assist the Sound Director to provide technical and logistical support for load-ins, technical and dress rehearsals, previews, meetings, and other production-related events. Assist in creating and updating all production-related paperwork, including theater drawings, signal flows, equipment lists, audio patching, RF assignments, and cue lists. Assist the Sound Director in providing departmental leadership, serving as department supervisor in their absence, and effectively directing staff throughout the production process. Assist in maintaining accurate inventory reports and equipment lists. Maintain purchase records and financial reconciliation documents. Support the inspection and upkeep of department equipment and workspaces; ensure that materials needed for maintenance are adequately stocked. Assist with scheduling crew calls, contacting crew regarding potential work, confirming availability, and generating call sheets. Verify training qualifications of new and returning department employees. Facilitate required safety training for sound department staff. Assist with deployment and training for Listen Assist devices in all theaters. Support the scheduling and recording of Globe voiceovers. Maintain marketing hold tape recordings and the pre-show plaza announcement schedule. Set up and operate sound systems for band rehearsals and sitzprobes. Deliver and install sound and music equipment in guest artists’ residences. Provide sound support for non-theatrical company events or projects, including small system setup and operation. Setting up and running small sound systems. (Qlab and digital consoles necessary, Digico and Vectorworks a plus). Minimum 3 years’ experience with entertainment or theatrical sound technology required.
