Buy-Low Foods is currently seeking an Assistant Store Manager for our store located in Prince George (Parkwood), BC. This role is Full-Time and reports to the Store Manager.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous relevant grocery, retail and/or food service supervisory experience
  • Able to lead a team in an enthusiastic and positive manner
  • Superb customer service skills with a desire to provide a great shopping experience for customers
  • Exceptional leadership and organizational skills
  • Outstanding communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of health and safety legislation, policies and practices
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment under pressure
  • Able to maintain a professional demeanor under stressful situations
  • Experience in effective merchandising that drives sales
  • Have experience ordering and maintaining department stock
  • Flexibility to work a variety of hours which include days, evenings, weekends and stat holidays

WORK CONDITIONS AND PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Walking and standing for extended periods including bending, twisting, crouching and kneeling at times
  • Must be able to be on your feet for up to an entire 8-hour shift
  • Ability to perform physically demanding, repetitive physical tasks for extended periods of time
  • Job requires manual dexterity, attention to detail and hand-eye co-ordination

Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily store operations, supervise employees and manage inventory
  • Effectively recruit, train and retain new employees
  • Maintain store staffing levels to meet the needs of our customers, while operating within budgeted wage costs
  • Creation of weekly department work schedules
  • Monitor performance of staff and develop employees to their full potential
  • Manage and motivate the team to increase sales, meet targets and exceed budgeted goals, while ensuring operational efficiency
  • Analyze and compare sales data for effective merchandising
  • Handle customer queries and complaints in a timely and professional manner
  • Comply with the Company’s established Health and Safety and Food Safety policies and ensure that staff members are also adhering to these policies
  • Provide a safe and clean store environment to protect both staff and customers
  • Building solid relationships with customers and vendors, while actively seeking new business development opportunities through networking and community events
  • Liaise with the store manager, department heads and staff to address any concerns, discuss upcoming ads or promotions, cross merchandising, etc.
