Job Description (ASM0624) Job Title: Assistant Store Manager Department: TrailersPlus Lot & Sales Operations Reports To: Store Manager Status: Hourly plus commissions and bonuses SUMMARY This Assistant Store Manager (ASM) will play a critical role in ensuring the success of our retail operations, including managing operations, sales, inventory, customer service, staff, service, and repair work. Primary responsibility will be assisting the Store Manager (SM) in daily operations, sales, generating revenue for the location, and running the store in the Store Manager’s absence. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES The essential duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following: ● Supporting Store Manager in achieving store revenue goals and assisting in managing sales and service staff. ● Implement and enforce all aspects of “Employee Handbook”. ● Meet all deadlines for daily, weekly, bi-monthly, monthly, and annually reports. ● Manage and perform all daily processes that include trailer inspections, trailer sales, parts sales, service work, inventory control, parts purchases, vendor relations, special orders, and pricing. ● Verify and perform proper invoicing of all trailers, parts, and labor. ● Ensure that all required paperwork associated with each sale is submitted to the appropriate state agencies and Interstate Group departments, accurately and in a timely manner. ● Ensure a respectful, safe and productive workplace through your effective hiring, onboarding, training, counseling, accountability and other performance management support for all service and parts staff you supervise. Address poor performance or behavior diligently and fairly. ● Ensure that all policies and procedures related to managing the facility’s keys are fully executed and enforced. ● Work strategically and collaboratively with other departments of the company. ● ASM will back up the SM and their responsibilities in the SM absence. (see SM job description) ● Maintain time cards, ensure they are up-to-date with start and end times as well as appropriate breaks are scheduled. ● Ensure the store facility and grounds are maintained by cleaning and organizing the building, shop, and trailers, in order to promote safety, security, and a professional appearance. ● Attend and participate in all required team and company meetings. ● Obtain state and city vehicle sales licenses, where required by law. ● Ensure that all policies and procedures related to managing the facility’s keys are fully executed and enforced. ● Performs other duties as assigned. ● Responsible for generating leads in the local market. ● Ability to operate forklift and tractor. (Company certification required) ● Ability to operate power tools and welding equipment. (Company certification required) SKILLS ● Strong communication and interpersonal skills ● Outstanding customer service skills and ability to sell ● Excellent problem-solving capabilities, with the ability to work well under pressure ● Superb organizational and time management skills ● Powerful leadership skills and an empathetic approach to management, with the ability to make important decisions SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES The ASM directs and is responsible for all operational aspects of the TrailersPlus retail lot. In the absence of the Store Manager, the ASM will be responsible to plan and promote the daily schedule, coordinate and manage the performance of employees including development and accountability. QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed in the essential duties and responsibilities section are representative of the knowledge, skill, and ability required. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE The position requires a high school diploma or equivalent, as well as six months to one year of related experience and/or training. LANGUAGE SKILLS Must be able to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Also important is the ability to write routine reports and correspondence and to speak effectively with customers or employees. Spoken fluency in Spanish is a plus. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Requires the ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. The ASM must also be able to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry as needed. COMPUTER SKILLS Knowledge of on-line computer systems is required for successful completion of the ASM job responsibilities and assignments. Basic keyboarding skills are also needed for efficiency. REASONING ABILITY Must be able to solve practical problems dealing with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. The position also requires the ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. PHYSICAL DEMANDS The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to stand, walk, sit, use their hands to handle or feel, reach with their hands and arms while balancing, routinely lift 50-75 lbs, and climb ladders.
