SUMMARY:

Manages retail store engaged in selling specific, related, or general lines of merchandise by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate supervisors.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Plans and prepares work schedules and assigns employees to specific duties.
  • Formulates pricing policies on merchandise according to requirements for profitability of store operations.
  • Coordinates sales promotion activities and prepares, or directs workers preparing, merchandise displays and advertising copy.
  • Supervises employees engaged in sales work, taking of inventories, reconciling cash with sales receipts, keeping operating records, or preparing daily record of transactions for Accountant, or performs work of subordinates, as needed.
  • Orders merchandise or prepares requisitions to replenish merchandise on hand.
  • Ensures compliance of employees with established security, sales, and recordkeeping procedures and practices.
  • Ability to satisfactorily perform all store functions including use of appropriate computer and point-of-sale systems.
  • Adheres to Good Business Practices to meet or exceed applicable sanitation and safety regulations and standard.
  • Answers customer’s complaints or inquiries

QUALIFICATIONS:

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Thre years experience as manager or assistant manager in a retail operation with preference given to retail grocery store experience.
  • Extensive knowledge of retail practices. Must have broad experience in people management with superlative supervisory skills.
  • Extensive knowledge of business related accounting practices and profit and loss statements.
  • Must be able to satisfactorily perform all functions of a retail grocery store operation.
  • Wide-range experience required in marketing and in building customer loyalty.
  • Two or four year college degree in applicable major may be substituted for part of the required experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
Responsibilities

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Manages the Cash & Carry Store. Is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Also directly supervises non-supervisory employees.
  • Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
