About us Tom Wood was founded in Norway in 2013 and is today internationally recognised for innovative and responsible jewellery design. With a conscious approach to materials, design and production, our collections are carried by leading retailers worldwide. Following the successful opening of our first flagship in Aoyama (2023) and our location at Dover Street Market Ginza (2024), we are proud to announce the opening of our third store in Japan, located in the vibrant heart of Shibuya, scheduled for opening spring 2026. Our headquarters is based in Oslo, with a team of approximately 50 people, alongside colleagues in Japan, Spain and Denmark. This opening represents a unique opportunity to take part in shaping Tom Wood’s next retail chapter in Japan. About the role At Tom Wood the Assistant Store Manager plays a vital role in overseeing the daily operations of the store, working with the Store Manager to ensure teams are focused to deliver excellent customer service, motivating to secure commercial targets and making decisions that control profitability, and acting as a role model with the highest standard of professionalism. In addition to standard daily duties, as the Assistant Store Manager in Shibuya, you will be central to the establishment of this brand new store. This involves contributing to building a strong retail team from the ground up, ensuring the store is operationally ready for the opening, and delivering an elevated customer experience in line with our company values from day one. To succeed in this role, you will need to be motivated by sales targets, hold a dedication to providing elevated and memorable experiences in a store setting, with a passion to lead and support teams to success, using warm, encouraging and empathic communication. Key responsibilities Deliver exceptional service that builds long-term customer loyalty and promotes future sales opportunities Ensure the Tom Wood service standards are consistently upheld across the team Support, inspire and motivate teams to achieve and exceed individual and store sales goals, using KPIs to drive commercial strategies Lead by example in product and brand knowledge, supporting to educate teams on material choices, care, repairs, and customisation options Drive clienteling initiatives, private appointments, and VIP event invitations Oversee smooth store operations, ensuring compliance with internal policies and health & safety regulations Maintain an impeccable store environment, including Visual Merchandising and back of house Support stock management, replenishment, and stocktakes Suggest and collaborate on promotional activities and in-store events Assist in recruiting, training, and mentoring staff with focus on talent development and retention Foster a respectful, inclusive, and supportive workplace culture We are looking for someone who has Experience in a commercial sales environment, working towards specific commercial goals Experience motivating teams to achieve commercial success Demonstrated ability to use empathy when managing interpersonal relationships Curiosity to listen to diverse perspectives and confidence to make decisions Preferred experience with clientelling and CRM Previous experience with jewellery, luxury fashion or premium fragrance & beauty is a bonus, or high end hospitality Fluent in Japanese and English language is essential About you Available to work in a store setting, standing for extended periods of time Available to work weekends and holidays as required, with uninterrupted availability in December Why join us Be part of a globally recognised brand dedicated to quality and responsibility Work in a collaborative, inclusive environment that values your contribution Grow with us through ongoing training and development opportunities Product discounts and a sales bonus Application deadline: January 15th.
