As the oldest Cornish pasty maker in the world, we pride ourselves on delivering delicious baked goods and brilliant customer service. We are now seeking an Assistant Store Manager to join us in our store in Basingstoke Railway Station for 20–30 hours per week!
Our Store opens at 05:30am and closes at 20:00pm (approx) so you must be able to work during these times and ensure that you can commute for these start and finish times. You will be working approx. 20-30 hrs per week.

As the Assistant Store Manager, you will play a crucial role in assisting with the overall operations of the shop, ensuring exceptional customer service and fostering a positive work environment.

While previous experience in retail or hospitality is preferred, it is not essential. We welcome applications from individuals who are enthusiastic, reliable, and willing to learn. Full training will be provided to ensure you are confident and comfortable in your role. You must be 18+ to apply for this position.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • Previous experience in a customer service-oriented role, preferably in the food industry.
  • Strong passion for baked goods and knowledge of different bakery products.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to effectively lead and motivate a team.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to multitask and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment.
  • Attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality standards.
  • Capable of working independently and unsupervised, to meet the business’s operational needs.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays, to accommodate the needs of the shop.
  • Basic computer skills and familiarity with point-of-sale systems is a plus.
  • A positive attitude, enthusiasm, and a willingness to learn and grow within the retail industry.
Responsibilities

RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Collaborate with the Store Manager to oversee the daily operations of the shop, ensuring smooth functioning and exceptional customer service.
  • Assist in supervising and training a team of dedicated staff to maintain high-quality standards in product preparation, presentation, and customer interactions.
  • Monitor inventory levels, handle stock takes, receive deliveries to ensure a well-stocked and organised shop.
  • Assist in creating and implementing efficient operational procedures to maximise productivity and minimise waste.
  • Support the Store Manager in managing employee schedules, ensuring adequate staffing levels and optimizing customer service.
  • Provide exceptional customer service by addressing customer enquiries, resolving complaints, and ensuring a positive shopping experience.
  • Maintain a clean, sanitary, and visually appealing shop, adhering to health and safety regulations.
  • Collaborate with the Store Manager in developing and executing marketing strategies to drive sales and promote new products or seasonal offerings.
  • Contribute to team meetings, sharing ideas and suggestions for continuous improvement of operations.
  • Stay up-to-date with industry trends, new product offerings, and customer preferences to enhance the shop’s competitiveness.
