Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU WILL DO

  • Demonstrate leadership in Health, Safety and Environmental Protection on the project. Effectively apply the requirements of the project specific safety standards to promote Pomerleau’s HS&E standards, applicable OH&S acts, regulations and codes with all employees and trade partners on the project ;
  • Ensure that projects are built according to approved plans, specifications and applicable building codes ;
  • Ensure efficiency in labor and materials to maintain high quality standardsPromote a positive safety culture with a target for zero incidents and accidentsUtilize the appropriate management skills to lead the team effectively in the day-to-day execution of the work ;
  • Put your problem-solving skills to work and recommend innovative methods that will increase effectiveness and efficiency to ensure project excellence and productivity ;
  • Jump in right from the beginning! Collaborate with the Superintendent for all construction site start-up details including the schedule ;
  • Stay on top of workforce training for the site team and ensure all training is up to date;
  • Ensure that the project is built according to the approved plan, specifications, shop drawings, and applicable building codes and that all content is current;
  • Be a keeper of construction site inventory and work with our Logistics team to ensure accuracy;
  • Celebrate project success and completion and be a key member of the project wrap-up process.

THIS ROLE COULD BE FOR YOU IF YOU HAVE

  • Minimum of five years previous construction experience with Heavy Civil, Marine or Deep foundation projects as a Assistant Superintendent ;
  • Technical competence to supervise and direct trade contractors in order to deliver exceptional quality on time and on budget;
  • A strong dedication to safety, a competitive spirit, community involvement, responsible action and ethical and accountable leadership;
  • Basic computer skills: MS Word, Excel and Outlook would be an asset;
  • Direct experience in managing 10-25 employees at a time; directing and supervising crews;
  • Must be able to read and interpret drawings, specifications and implement procedures for safe and expeditious installations;
  • The ability to quickly identify problematic situations, identify possible causes, produce effective solutions and collaboratively lead a large team to successful completion.
