ASSISTANT SUPERINTENDENT
Trickle Creek Golf Resort
Trickle Creek Golf Resort, a Les Furber design, and a division of Resorts of the Canadian Rockies, is nestled in the mountainside of beautiful Kimberley, B.C. We are looking for an energetic and passionate Assistant Superintendent to join our team.
Responsibilities:
- Work closely with the Superintendent in preparing agronomic strategies.
- Schedule and direct the daily tasks of the maintenance staff, while ensuring staff safety.
- Monitor and report daily to the Superintendent the course conditions, staff safety, and task progress.
- Repair and maintenance of the irrigation system; Set system controls as required or as directed by the Superintendent.
- Turf pesticide and fertilizer applications.
- Instruct annual first day training, which includes Health and Safety training, equipment training and company protocols and policies.
- Work closely with the OH&S director. Update the OH&S program annually.
- Involvement in HR tasks, including hiring, discipline, and evaluation of staff.
- Develop and mentor staff in all pertinent aspects of golf course maintenance.
- Work closely with the Pro Shop and Food & Beverage departments, assist with challenges, and relay changes in scheduling.
- Troubleshoot issues with equipment and tools, and assist mechanic as required.
- Any and all course maintenance tasks as required and/or directed by the Superintendent.
- Weekend and holiday shifts will be required throughout the golf season.
Qualifications
- Minimum three years of experience in a golf course maintenance supervisory role.
- Completion or enrollment in a Turf management program will be considered an asset.
- Knowledge of irrigation operation, troubleshooting and repair an asset.
- Valid B.C. driver’s license with clean abstract.
- Valid B.C. Pesticide Applicators certificate, or ability to obtain within 90 days of employment.
- Excellent leadership, communication skills (English), and an energetic, positive attitude.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of the position, detail orientated, organized, and self-motivated.
Compensation
- Competitive salary, 10 to 12 months per year, depending on experience and qualifications.
