Program Overview – After 4 & Neighborhood Programs, Homeward Bound Homeward Bound is an employment wrap around program that assists female-led families who are living in unstable conditions make a successful transition to sustainable employment, permanent housing and independent living for themselves and their children. The program includes many components including, career development and life skills, academic upgrading and computer training, and a college diploma program. There are also an internship component and access to sustainable employment opportunities. Homeward Bound also offers on-site childcare, family support, and an after-4 program for school aged children. The Assistant Supervisor, After 4 and Neighborhood Programs will assist the Supervisor in overseeing and coordinating the daily operations of the After 4 and Neighborhood Programs and will be responsible for supervising a team of program staff, ensuring program quality and effectiveness, and building positive relationships with program participants, families, and community partners. The Neighborhood Programs encourage the social, physical, intellectual, cognitive, and emotional growth of each child through a balanced use of high-quality activities and experiences. This position is responsible for contributing to the provision of quality services to children and their families. What You Will Do Assist the Supervisor in planning, implementing, and managing day-to-day operations at both locations, ensuring they align with program goals and objectives, while also guaranteeing the proper functioning and safety of the sites. Supervise program staff, including scheduling, training, coaching, and supporting them by providing guidance and mentoring on program planning, delivery, and behavior management. Assists Supervisor with staff and volunteer recruitment activities to ensure proper programs’ staffing. This includes creating job postings, scheduling interviews, interviewing applicants and on-boarding staff and volunteers for all Neighborhood programs. Overseas creating and implementing age-split programming that is suitable for different stages of development and learning. Provides individualized support to children with special needs and working with staff to create suitable programming. Plans and implements extended care programs in compliance with the funder contract. Manages the reward system that has been implemented to manage behavior and build a positive community and classroom management at After 4. Coordinates weekly staff schedules ensuring that adequate supervision for the children is provided at all times. Ensure the safety and well-being of program participants, including maintaining a safe and clean environment, monitoring children’s behavior, and responding appropriately to any incidents or emergencies. Communicate regularly with parents, school administrators, and other stakeholders to ensure the program is meeting the needs of the community. Maintain accurate records and documentation related to program activities, including attendance, and any incidents or accidents that occur. Oversee the snack program by procuring necessary supplies, monitoring expenses, and preparing meals that adhere to Health and Safety regulations. Build positive relationships with program participants, school administrators, and other stakeholders by providing excellent customer service and fostering a welcoming and inclusive program environment. Assist in the development and monitoring of program budgets and expenditures. Represent the program at community events and meetings, and participate in professional development opportunities as needed. Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor. What You Bring to the Team Bachelor's degree in education, social work, or a related field, or equivalent experience. Minimum of 3 years of experience working with youth in a community-based setting, including program development, implementation, and evaluation. Minimum of 1 year of experience in a supervisory role, preferably in an unionized environment. What Will Set You Apart Knowledge of best practices in youth development, including positive youth development, trauma-informed care, and restorative practices. Strong interpersonal skills, including the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with program participants, families, and community partners. Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse audiences. Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as needed.
